Bristlecone

A film about living with the oldest trees in the world.

The Ancient Bristlecone Pine Trees are the oldest living things in the world. The oldest known tree is over 5000 years old. Its precise location is a secret, and is known by just one man.

The film is the result of a journey to Ancient Bristlecone Forest and the nearby town, Big Pine in California to investigate whether living alongside the oldest living things on earth impacts upon the way in which we live. The film is entirely constructed from unrehearsed conversations with local people, (including ranchers, biologists, spiritualists and forest rangers). Topics covered within the film include the role of the politics of land ownership in the American West, the oldest pine needles in the world, mythical giants, suicide in the National Parks and the habits of chipmunks.
